Reefton, New Zealand was the birthplace of Fanny, on 20 June 1867, to William Sidney Staite and his wife Theresa, nee Ryan.  William Staite was a solicitor.  Her family was remembered as being musical.

Fanny entered the Sisters of St Joseph in Whanganui on 3 July 1896, and was professed on 21 January 1898 as Sister Paul.

Sister Paul taught in primary schools of the Sisters in many of the Convents of Taranaki, in Waipawa and Hastings, Ohakune, Feilding and Otaki.  She often led these communities as superior.  She was a keen gardener.
She was known to have had one sister who lived in Wellington and after Sister Paul’s death contact was kept up with her by the Sisters.

Sister Paul died at Sacred Heart Convent Whanganui on 10 August 1967, and after Requiem Mass in the Convent Chapel, was buried at Aramoho Cemetery.
