Jubilees of Profession March 2012

Saturday 24th March was the day for celebrating Jubilees of Profession for three Sisters this year.  Miriam Prior rsj, and Kristine Keane rsj celebrated their 60th anniversary and Anne Burke rsj her 50th.
Family members, Sisters and friends gathered in St Joseph’s Chapel at Cullinane College for a Service of Thanksgiving.  During this Service the Jubilarians renewed their vows and gave thanks for all who had been part of their lives.

Miriam Prior is now resident at Quinlan Court in Whanganui.  A trained teacher, Miriam taught at many of the Josephite Primary Schools in the lower North Island as well as at Sacred Heart College in Whanganui.  She then spent some years as a parish worker before moving with another Sister for pastoral ministry to the central North Island logging town of Murupara.  She was part of a ministry to Women and Families on the North Shore in Auckland and then went back to parish ministry before returning to Whanganui.

Kristine Keane is living in Palmerston North.  Kristine had a long ministry as a teacher and principal in Josephite schools, as well as Sacred Heart College.  For some years Kristine was part of the Sisters’ Administration, and was closely involved in the building of Nazareth as a home for elderly Sisters.  Later she looked after the Sisters there.   Kristine has been living in Palmerston North for some years and was involved in a wide range of justice issues.  Kristine was also a member of the Sisters’ Leadership Group for four years.

Anne Burke lives in Whanganui. She also became a teacher and principal in Josephite Primary Schools around the lower North Island.  She returned to Whanganui when she became part of the Sisters’ Leadership Team.   Ministry in Pastoral Care at Nazareth Rest Home followed, during which time she was again part of the Congregational leadership. Anne is also involved in the Ecological projects of the Sisters.
