First anniversary October 2011

One year ago this month on the 17 October 2010, Mary MacKillop was declared St Mary of the Cross MacKillop in a wonderful ceremony in Rome.  Two Whanganui Josephites had represented the Congregation there while those of us back home watched the celebrations on large screens and televisions.  A notable feature of the scenes we saw in Rome were the teal blue scarves worn by all  – Central and Federated Sisters alike, which contributed to a sea of blue in the crowds.

At a gathering in Whanganui on the first anniversary, Sisters once again wore their blue scarves as they rejoiced, reminisced and looked to the future.
In the photo, the central image of St Mary is the artwork presented by the Cullinane College pupils at the Thanksgiving Mass in Whanganui in October 2010.  Sitting alongside are Sisters Von Witton, Margaret Hurley, Noelene Landrigan and Helen Doyle. Candles marking both Central and Federated Josephites on mission around the world were lit during the prayer reflection.
