Te Kura visit June 2010

Noelene Landrigan RSJ and Makareta Tawaroa RSJ recently visited Te Kura Kaupapa o Ngati Rangi, Maungarongo Marae, Ohakune, with an apple, a pear, a mandarin, a cherry and two quince trees as a koha to the Kura who were participants in the Te Huawhenua/Mara competition, promoting school gardens and orchards.   The Sisters and a local Maori trust have been the main sponsors.

Noelene, who taught at St Joseph's Convent School, Ohakune, taught many children from the marae as a young Sister, and shared lots of memories of her time at Ohakune.  Korty Wilson, the daughter of Vera and Willy, a former pupil of the Sisters, has been the Tumuaki (Principal) of the School since its foundation 8 years ago.
