Farewell to Kitty Moore - December 2009

The Congregational Trust Board’s final meeting of the year included the difficult task of saying goodbye to Kitty Moore, Congregational Executive Officer, who is leaving to take up a similar position in Auckland in the new year.

Kitty has been working with the Sisters for the past 18 years, initially as an assistant to the then Sister Bursar, and she has been part of the development of the role to its present concept.  In her day to day executive management of the Trusts’ assets, and her work as the Sisters’ Business Manager, Kitty has been approachable, competent and inspirational.

She has also been a member and promoter of the Josephite Affiliates, and will continue her links with this group.

Kitty’s final day at work was marked with a special luncheon with Sisters, workmates, family and friends.   In the photo above Kitty is flanked by the Manager of Nazareth Rest Home Angela Aspinall, Quinlan Court Manager Maureen Beard, Maree Hickey rsj, Francesca Bourke rsj, Marlene Dunn rsj, her son Robbie and daughter Jo.

During the luncheon a DVD record of Kitty’s time with the Sisters was viewed, and various tributes were offered to her.  In Kitty’s reply she spoke of her love of her work and time with the Sisters of St Joseph and her ‘Josephite-ness’, which she said will always be part of her.  She then presented the Sisters with a symbolic koru on a pottery base.
The gathering concluded with a special blessing prayed by all present for Kitty, with many good wishes for her upcoming position in Auckland.
